In my district we are have a battle with administration. They want use to
remove our basal/anthology books we have in our classrooms. These are books
that were left over from our last LA series. They tell us that these books
to not fit our comprehensive literacy program and that we should be use
books. I am having a real hard time with this. They want us to basically
destroy the books! The anthology series we use in the 5th grade have many
stories that we use along with our social studies curriculum. If we were to
remove these books we would not have the stories and would have to buy books
to replace the stories we were using from the anthology. This is going to
mean we need to spend more money we don't have! The same goes for the
primary grades. What do you think about this administrative decision?
