[LM_NET] TAR: HS American Lit. resources

I'm going to be doing a joint project with a HS language arts teacher. He
wants his students to do a research paper after reading a couple of pieces
by an American author (various authors). The paper will be basically
biographical about the author with some criticism. I'm looking for book or
media resources that would be good reference materials for them. These
students have fairly low reading levels. Any recommendations?
