As I am covering "fair use" and the use of movies in the classroom, I
find the site: Teach With Movies which specifically states that
educators can use rented or purchased movies to instruct in the
classroom without a public performance license.
http://www.teachwithmovies.org/copyright.html
This opens a Pandora's Box because even a world history instructor
asked today if he might be able to use his Disney version of
"Hercules" to show his high school students....
I find this website interesting since I know that Disney would not
allow the use of their movies in the classroom, regardless of the
lesson being presented. (Luckily, my teacher did not show the film.)
How are / would others interpret this site and explain it to their
faculty when they find it?
I'll post a HIT if others are interested.
Thanks!
~Shonda
