Thank you so much for the wonderful websites. Now I just need to find time to
really explore them.

Outstanding Science Trade books, as recommended by NSTA. I've found
some gems on this list!
Social studies has their version, although you have to be a member to
access the newest one:

It's not free outright, but some districts/states/libraries, etc.
provide free access to NoveList.
Many libraries have good compilations of review sites, such as this one
from Fairfax County, VA

I like this one for graphic novels:

Everyone carries similar "expert" reviews. But I would also add Mackin,
www.mackin.com<http://www.mackin.com/>, register and then use the searches to find
the titles you
want. Particularly great section "Suggested Lists" of over 5000 titles.
And the reviews naturally appear when you click on the book. The website is
being improved and should debut its new and simplified look in October.
Great personal service for over 2 million in-print titles. Also carry other
media, just not ebooks or Playaways. Follett has the contract on Playaways
as you know.
Also, try Powell's out of Oregon. Great book store, and super interviews
with authors and reviews.
And what about ALibris. Also online and good.
