I have a slightly different suggestion so that pens don't walk from our
circulation desk and I can't take credit-I saw the idea at my NJ Motor Vehicle
station. I made a paper cone around the pens-it's quite sizeable so there's no
way anyone could walk away with it. Use regular 8.5 X 11 paper. The kids
were kind of amused when they first saw them and one said it looks like a long
quill pen. We also collect pencils that the custodians sweep up because I just
can't stand to see the waste.
