I think the lessons the kids enjoyed the most and I felt were the most successful
were:
K - Mother Goose unit. After memorizing different rhymes children were divided into
acting troupes, made costumes, and filmed performing rhymes.
1 - Nonfiction conventions unit. Compared fiction and nonfiction books all about
Chinese history and culture t to learn about captions, glossary, index, table of
contents, etc. Finished by making kites (invented in China) and flying on the beach.
2 - Biography unit. Finally figured out a good way for them to use research on a
person. Each made a series of clues about there person to give to another class.
Are they competitive!
3 - Caldecott unit. Ran mock caldecott. Had small groups make commercials for their
favorite contender. Showed to other classes to influence vote.

Just get people to stop reading them."-- Ray Bradbury
