These are a few of the lessons I've learned over the last three years in a middle
school:
*
Buy more of what they WILL read than what they SHOULD read.
*
Don't assume that they remember anything they were taught in their
elementary libraries.
*
Graphic novels aren't a luxury; they're a necessity.
*
You can get subscriptions to comic books through EBSCO.
*
They will steal anything that isn't nailed down or locked up.
*
Speak to them like they're adults while remebering that they're babies.
*
Look for every opportunity to read aloud to them.
