Good morning All:
I had a hit all prepared with everyone's responses to the "library
pet" issue and then just lost it in cyber space so I will have to
post just a short response.
Basically what it boiled down to is that "favorite" pet is anyone's
guess. I had librarians write about everything from African
Cockroaches to Rats and they all loved them. The favorites,
however, seemed to be birds, turtles and guinea pigs.
On the Rabbit issue, many wrote to say that they could be litter
trained and were great pets while others said that you need a
certain breed in order to make that work. Almost everyone who wrote
about rabbits warned about the fact that they will chew everything
in sight from electrical cords to books to video covers. Evidently
in the US there are chewing sticks that help to take care of that
problem.
Thanks again for all who wrote with your responses. If there is
someone out there who really does want to know what everyone said,
contact me and I will try to compile all of the responses once
more.
