A school in a district I used to work in had two librarians and one tech.
The school was a typical high school in Southern California, around
1800-2000 students, I believe. They had a strong humanities program and the
teachers felt so strongly about research and collaboration that they took on
a few extra students in each class so the school could cover the extra
librarian's salary. I don't believe they still have that situation. I was
the tech there for a couple years and we were always busy. We often had two
classes in at the same time - we had a fairly big space. It was the only
school in the district with that unique situation.
