[LM_NET] Target book suggestion for 3-4

I am looking for a book to recommend as a memorial to a teacher's father who 
recently passed.  I was told he was an outdoorsman; enjoying hunting and fishing.  
He was also a World War II veteran.  I thought about Paulsen's books, but for my 
population they might be a bit difficult.  This teacher is a 4th grade teacher so I 
would like to recommend something appropriate for her students.  TIA
