[LM_NET] cataloging questions

I want to put country project as a subject heading, since it's something two 
of our teachers do each year and would help them be able to pull up all the 
books we have about various countries, to make it easier for kids to pick a 
country we have a book for. I also want to put the author's hometown 
location in the MARC somewhere.

Where do I put either piece of info and can you think of a reason why I 
should not use these as headings?
