"A rose by any other name..."

This "book room" idea reminds me of the time when I took my husband to
visit this very old, yet very experienced opthamologist. My husband
(who is visually impaired) refused to wear glasses since high school,
but would carry with him a hand-held magnifier to read smaller print.
After several years of doing this, he decided that the magnifier
wasn't strong enough and wanted the doctor to recommend something
stronger.

After the intensive evaluation of his eyes, the doctor asked my
husband how he was able to read small print. My husband proudly
pulled out his magnifier, to which the doctor wisely responded, "Have
you ever thought about connecting a second lense to a nose piece, so
both lenses could sit in front of your eyes? Then you'd have both
hands free." (In other words, wear glasses.)

I laughed hysterically! It took common sense spoken by an old eye
doctor to make my husband realize that his "better way to read small
print" wasn't nearly as effective as what was already available to
him.

Hopefully, someone will make some of our teachers and administrators
realize that these "book rooms" are already in existence....and are
managed quite effectively by those powerful literary agents called
"librarians."
