A 5th grade teacher has reportedly asked my aide to have added to our library "a
set of books about the presidents."
My feeling is that we already have a fair number of books about the presidents,
they are well-represented in print encyclopedias, PLUS online information is easy
to find.
Nevertheless, do YOU have a set of books about the presidents? Which
publisher/date?
My further feeling is that the "set" is desired to make it easier to not have to
help each student through a more realistic research process. Same grade level
wants me to purchase a set of books about the states for their reports about the
states.
Yes, I know this is my role - to collaborate with teacher, teach authentic research
process, use variety of sources available. I'm trying...but I haven't made many
in-roads yet. Do I buy the sets hoping that the purchase facilitates a move toward
collaborative approach to these projects?
Your thoughts?
