I asked for suggestions about buying a set of atlases for my grades 2-5 library
skills classes and general reference. A few of you asked for a HIT but there
wasn't much "popping" with this topic.
Here's what Audrey, Sarah and Judy had to offer.
+++A while back I bought a class set of paperback atlases from Scholastic, and used
+them to teach atlas skills. I'm wondering (if you investigate the publisher for
+them now), would they still be available?
+++I have a set of 25 World Almanac atlases that I use with 3-5 graders. I like
how they are organized and the amount of information that is provided for each
continent. STudents love using them and its easy to create games that hold
students interest.
+++I haven't used them on this level, but you may consider a regular road atlas.
They don't cost much. They support map skills. Personally I think any place I
study about (culture, history, etc.) seems much more real once I've seen a
road map of it.
