Here's an opportunity for online  professional development:

Course Title: Preparing HS Students for College Level Researching and Thinking  
(Online Course), July 6-20 (with an additional week allowed to finish all work), 1 
credit, $100, sponsored by Pennsylvania's Intermediate Unit One (support 
institution), taught by Terry Morriston, Librarian, Peters Township HS, McMurray 
PA. Approximately 30 hrs. of course work.

Synopsis
If the next century requires critical thinkers (re: Dan Pink and Thomas Friedman), 
if online learning and collaboration are tomorrow's schools, are you and your 
students ready?  Presently only half of all students who begin college actually get 
a degree, even if given 6 years. What can you do to ensure that your students are 
ready? Join me in examining ways, large and small, you can improve your program.

This online, 1-credit workshop will help you prepare your high school students for 
the transition to college/university level research.  At the same time, you will 
familiarize yourself with the online learning environment (Blackboard) in a 
low-key, supportive environment.  If you've never taken a course totally online, 
you'll enjoy the flexibility and interaction a Blackboard course provides. If you 
have Internet access, you can take this course from any location, from Waikiki to 
Washington DC.
