Another point to bring up is that attendance is a great way to 
network with other school librarians nationwide and find out, by 
direct contact and conversation, exactly what is working in other 
states  in regards to libraries helping students and schools meet 
state and federal standards (THAT will strike a chord with an 
administrator).  Of course, it will also let administration know just 
how far behind California is in support of school libraries.
