Last week I posted a question about patrons asking for help finding the
value of old books. For PR reasons I don't want to get too involved but
want to have somewhere to point them when they come in for information.
Following are the responses I received. I sent thanks out individually~
Try looking at alibris: http://www.alibris.com/
It specializes in selling used books and see what it may be selling for
- I just did a quick search and it shows some covers that you may be
able to match.
Try on e-bay; see if anything is being sold there. Without the
copyright though, it will be very hard to fix a year.
You might try www.loc.gov <http://www.loc.gov> ; see if they have a copyright date
for that
particular publisher of the book. Then you can see if you can match it
up somewhere.
Try looking it up on www.abebooks.com <http://www.abebooks.com/>
That will give her an idea of what it would sell for on the secondary
market and she could guess that she could sell it to them for about
one-third of the price listed.
