Thanks to all who responded. A few people asked for a HIT, so here is what I got:

Tigerdirect.com

The lower memory capacity flash drives are fairly inexpensive at most any store
with electronics I've found.

I get all of mine from mwave.com. Sometimes they set a limit on the
number you can order on the really good deals but if you call them and
tell them you are an educational institution they usually lift the
limit.

I was getting them at www.tigerdirect.com and they have run out. I would love to
know if you find another source.

I purchased Kingston Data Travelers, 512 MB for $5.89 each from CDW-Government.

amazon.com has one for $10.00--1 gig. I read about it a syndicated technology
column in our state paper last week. If you search "flash drives", it was the
first one that popped up--thinking the brand was Kingston (or close to that).

www.microcenter.com
Search for flash drives and click on price to sort by price. They have a 1G for
$9.99. A couple of weeks ago they had a $2 off coupon. I don't know what shipping
is as there is one near so I just shop.

Over the weekend I purchased 32 mg flash drives at Target's for $4.98 and 64 and
132 mg flash drives for $5.98 They are on swivel cases and I bought a case to keep
them in. I am having students check them out as if they are a book and they return
them within three days.

Micro Center sells bulk flash drives (without the neck chain) for 1 gb for $9.99
and 2 gb for $15.99.
Occasionally other suppliers (ie Staples, Office Max, etc.) sell them for greatly
reduced prices for insiders - just subscribe to their e-mail notifications from
their website.

thanks again,
