I, too, have had several teachers who require a certain type of book, but really
can't define what is acceptable. I invited two of them, one a chemistry, one
English, to the library after school. We are using Follett's Destiny (and before
that Circ+/Cat+). I handed each teacher a Dolphin (hand-help barcode reader),
showed them how to scan, and set them loose to select the books they wanted their
students to read. When done (after much beeping and exclamations of "Cool!"), I
assigned the list to a category and made a link in the Visual Search. Now if
students want to know what is acceptable for Mrs. N, all they have to do is scroll
through the 315 books in the list. Perhaps your teachers can do the same?
PS. Each got a nice "prize" for playing nice from my box of "goodies" gathered
from conferences past.
