I responded privately to the poster, but I have to respond to all the
"coloring in the library is bad" posts I've been reading. The part of the
original post that bothered me the most was the fact that some other teacher
didn't like what the librarian was doing in the library. To me that is the
part that is wrong in this picture. I don't "get" to tell other teachers
how to run their classrooms (although I have more certification for their
job than they do mine with me having a K-9 elementary degree, and them NOT
having an MLS degree). I don't see why the other teacher gets to tell this
librarian how to run her classroom. I, personally, hate coloring, and would
never subject kids to it, but I certainly don't have any problem with
someone who gives out coloring sheets in her classroom. What someone does in
her classroom is her business, with the guidance of her supervisor. Just my
opinion, but, of course, I had to share it.
