I'm packing my bags for a week in Bangkok, leaving NJ on Monday first thing
and arriving after 20+ hours in steerage on Tuesday at midnight. The weather
report is 111 for tomorrow. And it's a wet heat . . . (I just looked up Bangkok
on weather.com. It says right now it's 90, but feels 104. Yikes.)

I'll be doing several workshops (Books Kids Will Sit Still For and Act It
Out) at the EARCOS (East Asia Regional Council of Overseas Schools) Conference at
the Shangri-La Hotel. Doug Johnson is already there, I figure. He's giving a
pre-conference workshop Thursday on Designing Research Projects that Kids (and
Teachers) Love. We had a great time in Istanbul 2 years ago. And this time,
his wife Anne, also an elementary school librarian, is coming. Can't wait to
meet her. Jack Gantos is speaking there, too--looking forward to hearing him.
Should be a terrific conference. (Take a look at
www.earcos.org/etc2007/etc.html)

It occurs to me that with so many LM_NET folks abroad, there could be some
there at the conference. If so, please do come and say hi. I met folks from all
over the world in Istanbul. It was just fabulous. Can't wait to see Bangkok.

Let's see--got my sleeping pills, got my neck pillow, got lots of books to
read. If you have any sage advice for me, do tell.
