[LM_NET] HIT: monitor/PC problem solved

Thanks to all who made suggestions. The easiest one to follow was to restart in 
Safe mode--as soon as I looked up how to do it in the Complete Idiot's Guide to 
Windows 98--just the book I need when memory fails me.
