Hello:
Thank you all for giving me some excellent definitions to use with my
students for explaining what a myth is. My school is having a musical
performance of King Midas next week and I have been trying to explain the
story to grades K-5 before then. I am reading Max and Ruby's Midas to K/1,
another version of the story to grade 2 and having 3rd grade write their own
comic strips in groups telling about the consequences of being greedy. I
wanted 4th and 5th to do another similar project, perhaps creating their own
myth and then adding an illustration so I would have them to display. Does
this sound like too much to accomplish in 2 35 minute sessions? How would I
start them on this - brainstorming things like volcanoes, earthquakes,
lightning, floods, etc? What are some other subjects myths could be written
about? Any other thoughts on the feasibility, etc of the project?
