I'm looking for a song that fits an elementary school setting....fun
or energetic, thoughtful or memorable....something "school-ish" but
not necessarily classical. I'm interested in something that parents
would recognize (so it could be a "classic" rock, pop, country, etc.)
and students would also know (so it could be something new, re-written
classic from "parent's time" in school)
The lyrics don't have to be 'about school' but could be about youth,
children, growing up, working together, being friends, education,
learning, etc.
With that said, the ones that I've thought of have been....(a wide
range, I know):
House At Pooh Corner (Kenny Loggins)
ABC (Jackson 5)
You're My Best Friend (Queen)
Teach Your Children Well (Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young)
God Only Knows (Where I'd Be Without You) (Beach Boys)
Wake Me Up When September Ends (Green Day)---this one has a double meaning
Another Brick in the Wall (Pink Floyd)---sorry, that was a given!
Smokin' in the Boy's Room (Brownsville Station)---now we're into "drugs"....
--- see? the list becomes more "dark and cynical" rather than light
and elementary....I've obviously worked too long with "teenage angst"
...and it's been a long day!
Any suggestions, ideas? You may respond to me off-list.
Thanks!
~Shonda
