I thought with all of the Wikipedia talk I would point out some other free
encyclopedias.
1) The Concise version of the EB. I'm sure some of you have a full subscription
but this version can be very useful.
http://concise.britannica.com/
2) Although they barely promote it, most of Encarta is free from MS.
Access this way:
1) Search for Encarta article, any article via Live.com
http://search.live.com/results.aspx?q=encarta+baseball&mkt=en-us&FORM=LVCP&go.x=0&go.y=0&go=Search
From the list, select an encarta.com article. For example:
http://encarta.msn.com/encyclopedia_761577710/Baseball.html
Now, head to the top left of the page, note the countdown clock. Two free hours
of access to the full the majority of the encyclopedia. When that clock runs
down, find another article, click, and the clock resets.
More here:
http://search.msn.com/docs/help.aspx?t=SEARCH_CONC_EncartaFreePass.htm
3) Larry Sanger is a co-founder of Wikipedia, who left the project.
He is beginning is own project, Citizendium. More here with links.
http://www.resourceshelf.com/2007/01/25/citizendium-update/
4) Finally, I find this interesting when businesses are now promoting the fact
that they created (most likely) a Wikipedia entry promoting their business.
Here's one example:

cheers,
gary
