We've been following this story closely in Idaho, wondering what the extended
impact will be here. Oregon has been having a terrible time funding libraries and
many librarians are out-of-work there. I had to leave my family in order to find
work in another state, as have many Oregon librarians. It's incredibly tragic that
something as vital as a library would close. We all hope that the taxpapyers will
vote to keep their libraries open.
Oregon would do well to pass a sales tax, and drop its income tax to a lower
level. That way all the tourists would help fund the state.
