This request comes from a great teacher across town. I'm willing to bet the
"power" of LMNet can help him top previous years.

What I am asking you to do is clip the front page of a local paper and send it to
the school address I have posted below. For those that are new to this assignment,
all I am asking for is the front page dated Friday March 9th, 2007. We do not need
the rest of the paper. Just the front page. For those who have helped in the past,
I cannot thank you enough. This assignment truly is something that I and the rest
of the staff look forward to every year. Please do not hesitate to send weeklies or
even a paper you think we might get already. We can and do use everything that is
sent.
Special note for 2007. In the past, we have used March 10th as our date. Because
it falls on a Saturday, I have gone with one day earlier because papers like USA
Today and the Wall Street Journal will not publish that day. Also, Saturday
availability is limited as larger cities focus more on the early editions of the
Sunday paper. If you get a Saturday March10th newspaper and can send the front page
of it as well it would be greatly appreciated. ! I have about 20 cities around the
U.S. in which we have a streak of six straight years of getting their March 10th
paper. Again, our focus for the project is indeed March 9th, but a March 10th
thrown in as well would help in our study of layouts and continuity and seeing how
much of the paper has changed or stayed the same over time.
There is NO rush to get these to us.Our Media Center part of this project will not
take place until the second week of April, so there is plenty of time. Papers can
begin being sent March 12th, 2007 and the deadline to get them into this year's
project is Wednesday March 28th, 2007. On behalf of my students and colleagues, I
cannot thank you enough. One last favor: Forward this on to anyone and everyone you
think could give us a hand. Last year we had papers from over 45 states and 27
countries, all dated the same date!
Thanks again,
Brian J. Hayes
