[LM_NET] Review: Adventure Sports

Hello Everyone,

 

I just wanted to call your attention to a great series of non-fiction
books for your middle/high school students.  They are called Adventure
Sports and include four books:  Kayaking, Rock Climbing, Mountain Biking
and Ice Climbing.  Written by an experiential education professor and
his graduate student, these books are a step above the 'extreme sports'
and 'kid guide' books often found in the middle school or high school
media center.  The content is strong and the photographs are beautiful.
The vocabulary is acceptable for an adult to read (I am keeping one for
myself) but not overwhelming to students. It includes a small font for
the basic information with larger letters for further
explanation/vocabulary.  Each book includes an index, websites for
additional information, recommended reading, and a glossary.
