Hello:

Just a quick question about reader theater. I planned a unit in
collaboration with my second graders teachers to assist them with their
reading unit. We have been working since late January on porquoi stories,
reading books such as Why Epposomundas Has no Hair on His Tail and How
Chipmunk Got His Stripes, as well as short stories. The last piece I did
was a readers theater I made from "Chipmunk"...I had a principal observation
coming up and planned this in conjunction with this RT. It was a first for
me - never done one before - and it was part of my library curriculum and (I
thought) second grade curriculum. I found out as I was doing the RT that
although the teachers have materials on RT, they don't actually use them, so
students had never been exposed to one before. Anyway, my long winded
explanation is to say this: I planned the RT as a final cumulative piece in
a weeks long unit. My administrator in her notes made mention of RT needing
an assessment piece. I have never heard of this before - can someone explain
so I understand what I need to do for next time?

Thanks!
