[LM_NET] OT: Gov't Docs Reference Question

If anyone can help, that would be great...I'm stumped on where to look:

 

My son and a friend (10th grade) are working on a National History Day
project re: Elvis Presley...they are trying to find a legitimate
statistic re: what impact Elvis' military service had (1958-1960) on
voluntary enlistments during that time period (and in to the early 60s).
A couple of articles have referred to increased enlistments, but they
haven't been able to find specific enlistment statistics.  Any
suggestions on how/where to look?
