Thank you to all who responded to my request for a scope & sequence
regarding library instruction/library skills. (This is my 3rd attempt to
post, so I sincerely apologize if you receive this message more than once.
These were my responses:
Check out our state guidelines.
http://www.ode.state.oh.us/GD/Templates/Pages/ODE/ODEDefaultPage.aspx?page=1
Click on Academic Content Standards. Next page: Library ( we also have
Technology done the same way if you need those) Next page: Library
Guidelines. It is a pd. file - you want to start with p124. There the
guidelines have been arranged by grade level.
Here’s a book you can try…
Title: Developing an information literacy program, k-12; a how-to-do-it
manual and cd-rom package. Developed by the Iowa City Community School
District; edited by Mary Jo Langhorne. 2nd ed., c2004
Go to Richardson ISD website:
http://libraries.risd.org/curriculum.elem.htm
Right under Library TEKS is a yellow link to Scope and Sequence.
Spring Branch ISD has a great library page with tons of information on it.
Here's the link to it:
http://library.springbranchisd.com/sbisd_library/librarians/leadership_collaboration_technology/TAKS/teks_taks_correlation_texas.htm
Ours can be found at http://www.ghaps.org/librarymedia/curriculum.html
If you go on the website for NJASL they have a very nice scope and sequence.
Check "Resources for School Librarians" - "Information Skills Instruction"
under Info skills curriculum and standards
http://www.sldirectory.com/libsf/resf/infoskill.html#top There are numerous
links for state & provincial 'scope & sequence'
In Texas there are sets of standards called TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge
and Skills). If you look on the web site of Texas Education Agency, they
should have them categorized by grade levels and subject. I believe library
skills are included in those.
