[LM_NET] non-fiction suggestion

Please help me with a suggestion for my 7th grade reading teacher's 
question:

In thinking about books for next year, I thought maybe you could help me 
choose a good nonfiction book.  I would like to have something of a more 
current situation or person with a good moral or lesson for our kids...maybe 
overcoming an obstacle or tragedy or learning a valuable lesson.  Any 
ideas???
