Dear Wise Ones:

I have started to collect the Sirs Enduring Issues. I have copied the blurb by
Omnigraphics on the bottom of this email if you don't know what that is. Last year
when I received the 2006 information there was a great sheet on how to upload this
into my cataloging system. I love that I am able to look in OPAC and pull up
relevant articles. The problem is that when these imported they didn't have a call
number. In fact what they did was import the title with no copies. I was wondering
if anyone else has faced this problem and how they fixed it. There are over 900
articles. I don't allow the articles to leave the library. If a student wants
one, I copy the relevant article for then and put the original back. Do I still
need to barcode each one? Any help or advice would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!

SIRS Enduring Issues is an eight-volume, 32-topic reference set showcasing the best
articles published during the preceding year on key issues. Published in a
convenient loose-leaf format for classroom and library use, Enduring Issues is an
excellent tool for teaching basic research methodology. The collection fosters
multidisciplinary classroom discussion and promotes critical thinking on major
issues. Volume titles are: Business, Global Issues, Human Relations, Environment,
Health, Family, Science, [and] Institutions.

Each volume contains 80 carefully selected full-text articles chosen according to
SIRS' strict criteria with regard to content relevance, reliability, and
appropriateness to students. SIRS editors scour thousands of magazines, newspapers,
and web sites to provide the most informative articles on particular topics, with
background information, insights on how these topics affect our daily lives, and
varying opinions. Also included are helpful maps, charts, and photos.
All articles are indexed by professionals using Library of Congress subject
headings to ensure that users get information relevant to their needs.
