Hi, folks.
My husband is hooked on a reality TV show called "Beauty and the Geek."
It's kind of like "Survivor"--teams consisting of a "beauty" (a socially
successful, conventionally pretty girl) and a "geek" (socially inept
nerd boy) have to survive a series of elimination challenges. The first
challenge tonight called for the girls to find books using the Dewey
Decimal system, which was pretty funny and a little sad. They pulled 3
colored cards out of a card catalog, then had to find the corresponding
books on the shelf. No online catalog, I guess! The girls kept saying
things like "I haven't done this since third grade!" and "Really! My
books aren't here!" (Funny--my students always tell me that the books
they're trying to find aren't on the shelf...)
The first young lady to finish her task looked pretty pleased with
herself--she must have been paying attention during one of those lessons
in the library!
If you have a chance to watch the first challenge, do!
