It is an interesting video, I agree. And it does help portray some of
the possible implications of what we've come to call Web 2.0 in a direct
and dynamic way. It's provocative. But I can't help thinking some of its
conclusions are hyperbolic to the point of absurdity. We're going to
have to rethink identity? Really? More so than has always been the case
with online communication? Or in, for example, theater at least since
distant antiquity (the word "person" comes from an Etruscan word meaning
mask)? We're going to have to rethink love? What does that even mean?

I think Dr. Wesch needs to get out of his office a little more. But I
also think our own roles and responsibilites as librarians and educators
are going to start being updated much more quickly and continuously and
that those of us who ignore or resist the updates will be seen by both
students and administrators as irrelevant.

This was an amazing video, worth showing to Computer Literacy students.
But you have to be able to read VERY fast! I'd be interested to know if
the digital age has influenced students'
reading speed.
