[LM_NET] TARGET: Books like "Defiance" by Valerie Hobbs

Dear colleagues,

I had the parent of a 5th grade girl come to me the other day with a
request.  Her daughter is not a reader, but she devoured Defiance by
Valerie Hobbs.  It is a title on our state book award list (Black-Eyed
Susan Award).  The mother and daughter would like more books like
Defiance, books that are "real."  Any suggestions?
