I have tons of middle school students who love Cirque Du Freak. Which books
should I suggest they read next??

I looked in the archives and I found many comments about if Cirque Du Freak
is appropriate for middle school but I couldn't find anything about books
like it.

**I have never read the Cirque due Freak books but I think I was wanting
more books like this that will appeal to boys instead of vampire stories but
here are the responses I received. Thanks to everyone for their comments!**

Twilight and New Moon by Stephenie Meyer, books by Vivian Vande Velde, and
books by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes are all VERY popular at my middle school
after Cirque du Freak. I've even printed out a list of all vampire books
available at the school with the title, author, call number, and summary so
that when kids ask, I can just hand them the "So You Like Vampires..."
packet! It certainly makes my life easier, and I love to see their eyes
light up at the pages upon pages of books they can read!

The Daughters of the Moon series by Lynn Ewing is also very
popular. There is also a series by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes that is very
popular. I don't think her titles have a name as such.

In Nancy Keane's book, The Big Book of Teen Reading Lists, she suggests the
following titles for ages 12 and up students who liked Cirque du Freak (she
has another list for older teens):
• Sweetblood by Pete Hautman
• The Silver Kiss by Annette Curtis Klause
• The She by Carol Plum-Ucci
• Vampire High by Douglas Rees
• Vampire Kisses by Ellen Schreiber
• Full Tilt: A Novel by Neal Shusterman
• The Boy Who Couldn't Die by William Sleator
• Companions of the Night by Vivian Vande Velde
Have you tried Amazon? They should have some related titles...

I really like both Peeps & Last Days (Westerfeld) and Twilight and New Moon
(Meyers), but they are much more HS oriented.

William Hill writes some middle school targeted books which have been
quite popular with my students. HS kids enjoy them, too. Some of his
books are available on Titlewave. He does vampire books, and some
fantasy books. He is from the Lake Tahoe area and my students kept his
books checked out. I had multiple copies and they were rarely on the
shelf.

My kids like Vampire Kisses by Ellen Schreiber.

The Erin Hunter series, and Twilight and New Moon. . .
