[LM_NET] TAR: easier version of a classic short story

Good morning!  Two 7th grade reading teachers would like to do a unit on
H.G. Well's "Country of the Blind"  but think that the reading level is
too high.  They'd like to find an alternate version, if possible, that
has a lower reading level.  I've checked Cliff Notes and Sparks Notes
websites and didn't find anything.  I don't know where to go from here.
Any suggestions?  TIA!
