Yep, I too will "tag" items in the catalog so students and teachers can find
exactly what they are looking for. I would tell faculty "if you remember something
as "the big red book"...I'll add that to the subject notes so we can find it!".
Pure catalogers get the shakes when I say this. Dewey and LC put like materials
together. The catalog gets the patron in the right area with the call number. The
"tags" help them find exactly what they need. Language evolves. Tagging
(folksonomy) tied with the catalog numbers help patrons find information- and
that's why I'm here.
