Once an 8th grader came in looking for a picture he had checked out years
ago - "the guy's an Indian, I think - and he has to climb a hill and find
God or something" - and when I thought an minute and then handed him the
book he wanted, despite the sketchy info (Arrow to the Sun), his mouth
dropped open. "I could never be a librarian," he gasped, "I could never
remember all these books!"
Another kid (2nd grade) brought his book back the last week of school and
looked around and then asked me, "So, are you going to take all these books
home for the summer, or do they stay here?"
I love my job!
