On of my favorite bookstore stories was from about 7 years ago. My dad
needed a companion for his PT Boat convention (My mother had just died
and he didn't want to go alone). Well, I was just a little bored, but
stuck in Schaumberg, IL at the hotel. So I braved the summer heat and
walked over to the shopping mall across the street and found a bookstore
(Walden's, I believe). I had been reading all this angst ridden YA
fiction and was just tired of the "DRAMA". I ended up sitting no the
floor with 3 teenage girls I'd never met before talking books and
getting great ideas. Ended up, on their suggestion, getting the
Princess diaries and just had a real guilty pleasures day of reading
fluffy stuff! How much fun is that!!!
Have a great holiday every one! We go through 12/21, but don't have to
be back until 1/7/08!

Can you say Meg Ryan in "You've Got Mail"? I LOVE the scene in the FOX
bookstore where Kathleen helps a customer with book recommendations
while
the clueless employee stammers in the background. I've been chuckling
over
the posts in this thread as I think of myself and my totally
embarrassed
teenage daughter in Borders. Just last night I found myself replacing
books
on and tidying Borders shelves! Guess we're librarians 24-7.
