[LM_NET] Any Suggestions for a New "Classic" for 8th Graders?

        Do you have any suggestions for a new title to teach for 8th
graders-something new and fun?  The English teachers who are asking
teach some historical fiction right now-"Diary of Anne Frank", No
Promises in the Wind  Also  Treasure Island and The Pearl.   Their team
concepts are relationships, balance, progress, and power for the year
and foundations, systems, change, and cause/effect.  Maybe the title
could fit with a concept, but it doesn't have to.  If you have any ideas
on the top of your head , please send them this way.
