Hi,
Our school has recently blocked Facebook and other social networking sites.
My question is not about whether this is a good idea or not, but whether,
once it has been blocked, if any school has tried to tie allowing access to
Facebook to academic achievement. For example, if the secondary school GPA
reaches 3.3 next quarter (for the whole school, not individual students),
the school admin will again allow access..I realize that some of you have no
say over this, because of district policy, etc., but for those of you in
smaller schools, what do you think of the idea? Pros/cons? I know it's a
pain for our tech people to turn it on again, turn it off again on all the
computers but I wondered if this might be a way to increase the academic
rigor by enticing kids with what they really want...??
Thanks for any thoughts you might have on this,
