I believe that high schoolers do appreciate booktalks as much as the 
younger students.  Many of the booktalks on my website are for YA 
books that I would love to see promoted to teens.  You can access 
them at http://www.nancykeane.com/booktalks   In addition, I have a 
daily podcast that highlights books for kids.  Many of these are YA 
books.  This is an easy way to be introduced to new books.  The 
podcasts last about a minute so are easy to fit in.  I know that many 
librarians subscribe for a quick booktalk.  The podcasts have also 
been included in opacs so the kids have a quick booktalk.  And some 
librarians have told me they put a collection onto an ipod and let 
kids hear a few to help with book selection.

I will be teaching an online module for YALSA starting October 
1st.  The module will concentrate on book promotion with teens with 
booktalking being a major part of it :-)  I hope that those who are 
interested will think about sharing this experience.
