Hi all-
Throwing this out there in the interest of enlightenment...
My predecessor put the barcodes on the front of the book in the upper left hand
corner near the spine, often sacrificing the view of the title on the cover. She
also put other stickers there, denoting books for book club, class sets.. sometimes
you can't even read the title or see the artwork.
We followed this pattern for a while, but then threw it out the window for the sake
of de-cluttering. We started putting the barcode on the back of the book, allowing
students to be able to see the cover. Sometimes, however, there's so much text
back there that it's hard to find a spot. So what if I put the library barcode
over the book's barcode without covering the ISBN number? It seems to be the most
benign place. But I've never seen this done in any other library. Is this some
sort of faux pas?
Where do you put your barcode?
I eagerly await your thoughts. :)
Thank you!
