I have to laugh as I read this
-- I once had an English teacher who refused to bring students to the library
because she went all the way through college and never had to use the library or
any of those research tools so she no point in bringing kids to the library.....
You have to laugh or you would just cry...

And then there are those administrators who remind librarians just
where they rank within that pecking order. I had one recently who
stated that the "librarian was ranked along with the cafeteria
workers....as an employee who interacted with the students once or
twice a week, but did not have a direct impact on the educational
process." He saw no value in the library and demonstrated this by not
bringing his students to the library for research ....and he taught
speech and debate!!
This was also the administrator who put a newspaper article about
search engines in my mailbox with a note that read..."so why do we
need librarians or libraries....we have Google?"
He was serious....I kept the article with his note. One day I hope to
use it "for good" rather than "for evil" within my profession.
