Thank you so much for all of your thoughtful replies! I wish I could
respond to each of you individually. I have decided not to put the
book on the shelf. I re-read its reviews, which were surprisingly
decent, but in the end, I do not feel that the quality is high enough.
Per much of the advice I received from this list, I will be donating
it to my town's public library.
Thanks a lot for the support!

Subject: GEN: Is this censorship?
To: LM_NET@listserv.syr.edu
I recently purchased Anatomy of a Boyfriend by Daria Snadowsky. I read
it before it went on the shelf. It's my opinion that this is a
TERRIBLY written book. The subject matter is great--it speaks very
frankly about sex--but it's just a bad book. I'm disappointed; I
expected more. Anyway, my question is, if I don't put this book on the
shelf, am I censoring it? It hasn't *technically* been on the shelf
yet, but I did buy it, process it, and add it to the catalog. In the
spirit of full disclosure, I also know that some of our more
conservative parents might take issue with the subject matter, and I'm
not sure I want to put a poor-quality book out there that might get me
into some hot water. It's no Judy Blume...
