I agree with Paula in what she says below "  90% of your staff has no idea 
what you do -- and really doesn't much care."  She hits the nail on the head 
and presents the real picture of who we and other resource/support personnel 
are viewed.  For those of us who are on fixed schedules and give "BREAKS" 
[ a word I detest used in any way shape or form] I don't
foresee US at the elementary school level becoming tooooooooooooo obsolete. 
We read from time to time elementary personnel who want to go to flexible 
schedules and seek pro's con's / good/ bad points when they know there will 
be much resistance to the attempt. Why?  elementary personnel supply breaks. 
We can talk curriculum, collaboration, test scores, integration, etc etc til 
Gabriel blows his trumpet, but elementary school library media specialists/ 
school librarians are break givers and baby sitters.  I enjoy my job and the 
kids..DON'T get me wrong nor am I complaining. I am presenting the real 
picture as it is...another perspective....devil's advocate.
