Regarding: "Have you checked out Bill Gates School of the Future in
Philadelphia?
Not even a library "
I have checked out the school, online.
http://www.microsoft.com/education/demos/schooloffuture/index.html
Click on experience the school, then on the green area to the bottom of the
floor plan.
Here you will find the "Interactive Learning Center". Read the description.
They HAVE a library, they just choose to call it something else.
You might argue that the facilty isn't a library because it doesn't focus on
books. But I would argue that my "library" has most of what they describe.
You might argue that they don't have a "librarian". I would bet they do. Who
else would manage the place?
I do not see our job going away. Renaming us and our facilities isn't the
job going away. To me, one of the problems is the renaming. Say library and
people know what the facility is and what they can find there, including
computers. Say information center and what do they think will be there?
