[LM_NET] Gen: "break away" not well-stated, does not equal a separate ALA

 and to add a different point of view, here is some email I got from an SLA member 
(Special Libraries Association). And if you've never looked at their website, take 
a look - very nice and readable, easy to find what you want...

I've omitted his name and which division he is active in:
..."I've given the idea of advertising the profession to SLA and to the _____
Division on numerous occasions, and everyone always looks at me like it is
an insurmountable task!  I'm afraid that people who are drawn to this
profession don't really want to be in the public eye, but that's exactly
why the profession is in trouble from all angles!!!"
